DRESS CODE & GENERAL INFORMATION: This is an outdoor event. Wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing. This event normally happens rain or shine. Many positions will require walking and standing. Closed toed shoes are required. Event T-shirts are provided. All volunteers will receive soda/water and snacks throughout their shifts. If you volunteer all day lunch will be provided.
Most positions require you to be at least 18. However, we do have areas for volunteers 14-17 with written parent permission or with parental guidance. If you want to volunteer but are not able to because of medical condition or restriction, please feel free to ask, we may have some positions that you can still volunteer for.
EVENT SET UP - (Friday only) - Setting up tables, chairs, tents; may help with race course set up.
BEER SALES - You must be 21. Drinking alcoholic beverage is not permitted during or between shifts (after shift only).
FLAGS - You will be waving the race flags for the event (detailed instructions will be provided). This position will require extended periods of standing and waving flags.
RACER ASSISTS - This position is in the water and you get wet! It is suggested that you bring a change of clothes and a towel. Closed toed shoes are required. Volunteer shifts for this position are all day; half day shifts are not available due to the requirements of the role. You will be assisting the racers getting in and out of their boats and holding their boats before and after the races (Full day shifts only).
BRIDGE SECURITY - Walking along the bridge or providing security (bag checks, ABC enforcement, etc.) at check points.
PIT SECURITY AREA - This position will provide security for the hot pit area or at the check points (bag checks, ABC enforcement, checking wristbands, etc.).
TOWING ASSISTANCE - You will need to have a pick up or SUV with a tow hitch and be comfortable towing the boats, it will be short distances from the cold pit area over to the cranes for the boats to be hooked and lowered in the water.
TRASH - Pick up and change out the trash bags throughout the event
VIP/HOSPITALITY AREA - Help with setting up food, serving food, drinks, selling tickets, checking ID's, putting on wristbands, etc.
